Upload Panel & CloudShare Lite+

Upload sounds and get a streaming link you can send to anyone. They search and audition your sounds right inside basehead… nothing to download.

Upload panel icon

Open it from View → Upload Panel. Not in the FREE Edition.

Create a CloudShare

  1. Pick a File Source: Selected Results, Current Taglist, a Collection, a Group or an Import. The line underneath shows how many files will go.
  2. Give it a CloudShare Name.
  3. Choose where it’s stored (below).
  4. Validate, then Start Upload.

When it finishes the link is copied to your clipboard and shown in the panel with Copy Link.

Where it’s stored

Temp Storage (7 Days)

basehead’s servers. The link and files are removed automatically after 7 days. Set Recipient Location to the server nearest the people you’re sharing with so streaming is fastest. Limit: 100 files / 2 GB per share… for more, use your own bucket (no limit).

Needs active Maintenance. Our cloud services cost us money to run, so Temp Storage and Quick Share stop when it lapses… but your personal buckets keep working.

Your own bucket

Turn off Use Temp Storage to upload to your own Wasabi, Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage bucket… the link lasts as long as the files do. Each provider remembers its own keys and bucket.

Upload panel — CloudShare to your own bucket
  • Enter the Access Key and Secret Key, then pick a bucket from the Bucket Name ▾ list (or type it). Test Connection finds the region for you and tells you exactly what’s wrong if it fails.
  • Each CloudShare lands in a folder named after it. Same name already there? Choose Replace or Keep both (Name-2, -3…).
  • Add to My CloudPacks also adds it to your own CloudPacks node, with an optional CloudPack Image for its sidebar icon.

Browse bucket…

Next to Bucket Name. Lists every CloudShare in your bucket… Copy Link, Open as Import or Delete (tick several for Delete selected). Deleting removes the files and the link stops working for everyone. Failed or cancelled uploads show as Incomplete so you can clean them up.

Key permissions. Use a key limited to that bucket. To Replace or Delete it needs delete rights… on Google Cloud that’s Storage Object Admin (Object Creator can only upload).

Choose Database → Open CloudShare Link… (or paste the link into the search bar and press Enter), then add it as:

  • Import — ready to search and browse like any library.
  • TagList — also puts every sound in a new TagList to audition and spot from.
  • Collection — rebuilds the sender’s Collection with its folders, when it was shared from one.
Open CloudShare Link dialog

The sounds stream from the cloud. The Import gets a pale-blue cloud badge, and Rescan / Watch Levels don’t apply to it. Hover it to see when a Temp Storage share expires.

Zip file icon

For people who don’t use basehead (sux to be them). Zips the files, uploads them and copies a link… they download the zip in any browser.

  • Results — right-click → Quick Share N Files with Link.
  • Taglist — the Share button in the Taglist toolbar.
  • Collections — right-click a collection → Share ‘Collection’, or a folder → Share Folder.

Tick Convert audio to FLAC for a smaller download. Limit: 100 files / 2 GB… for bigger sets make a CloudShare instead. Licensed CloudPack and store files are skipped here too. Taglist and Collection shares can send only the selected files.

Good to know: Quick Share links expire after 7 days and the files are NOT encrypted… don’t send sensitive material this way.
