Bounce Audio & Recall Ultra
Render the selected sound through your live Process rack — VST3 plugins, pitch, speed and stretch — into a new file. Then bring the exact settings back any time with Recall.
Bounce a sound
- Select a record and set up the Process panel rack, plus any pitch / speed / stretch.
- Choose Actions → Bounce Audio… or press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + B. Playback pauses while the dialog is open.
- Fill in Filename, Description and UCS Category / SubCategory. Prefix and Suffix are remembered and always applied, and Add CatID to [filename] is a toggle. The Final name line previews the result.
- Pick a Destination and click Bounce.
Destination
- Bounces Path (default), Transfers Path and Performances Path use the folders set on the NodeTree’s Paths node. Change… jumps straight there with that category open.
- Disk Folder bounces to a one-off folder — the button reads Choose… and opens a folder picker.
- Click the path line to open the folder in Explorer / Finder. If it reads (not set) in orange, Bounce is grayed out — click it to set the folder.
Options
- Include Recall File — writes a
.bhrecallfile next to the bounce so it can be recalled later. - Add to Import — imports the bounce into the database. On by default for Bounces Path, off for the others.
- Both are remembered per destination.
- Tail — the rack-wide tail seconds (Process panel, Rack card) are added to the end of the bounce so reverb and delay ring out.
The bounce Import
One Import per database receives your bounces, and basehead remembers which one (rename it freely). The first time, if an existing Import already holds the folder, you’re asked whether to use it. Otherwise you name a new one (default Bounce Library), created with the folder you bounced into. Folders you add to the Bounces category later join it automatically. Removing a folder from the Paths node doesn’t remove it from the Import — edit the Import’s folders for that.
To see or change it later, check the Bounces row on the Paths node — it shows the Import after the name (e.g. Bounces → Bounce Library). Its … menu has a Bounce Import submenu to pick a different Import or create a New Import….
Takes
A Performance or TWEAKER take whose Save to Path is set to Bounces is imported into the same bounce Import when recording stops. (With separate TWEAKER stems on, only the master take is imported.)
- Include Recall File — both record menus (the InfoStrip Record button and TWEAKER’s) have this toggle, off by default. On, it saves the rack / process settings the take went through, plus the TWEAKER kit if one was loaded. The take gets the recall icon.
- Recall a take the same way as a bounce. After Recall VST Plugins also? you’re asked Recall TWEAKER kit also? — Yes loads those sounds back into the slots, No leaves TWEAKER alone. Kit files that have moved are listed and their slots stay empty.
- A take has no source file, so it stays selected after the recall.
Recall a bounce
Bounced files show a green recall icon in the Results list’s left icon column. Select one and choose Actions → Recall Bounce, right-click → Recall Bounce Settings, or press Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R. The Actions item only appears when the selected record has a readable recall file.

- The original source loads back into Results with its pitch / speed / stretch, processing, selection In/Out and any channel extraction or sum-to-mono.
- While that record is selected its waveform draws in green so you know you’re in a recall.
- If the bounce used plugins, Recall VST Plugins also? lists them, plus any not installed on this system. Yes backs up your current rack to a hidden _beforeRecall preset, loads the plugins (missing ones are flagged) and brings the Process panel into view. No leaves the rack alone.
Good to know: cloud files and virtual split records can’t be bounced. Deleting a bounced file from disk also deletes its recall file.
