Floating Licenses
basehead supports two kinds of license pooling — pick the one that fits your situation.
A · Cloud Pool

Best for facilities where every client has internet access and you want one license per computer without running a local server. You can assign more licenses than you have QTY — but when running rigs exceed the max, no new copies of basehead can launch until one quits.
Since there’s no server, it’s library-book style: Check Out / Check In. basehead must close cleanly to return its license to the pool. After a power outage, relaunch and quit basehead to return the license to the Cloud Pool.
B · LAN License Server
Best for large facilities — either internet-locked or just wanting easier license management and deployment. The LAN License Server is a separate PC / Mac / Linux console app that basehead clients connect to via IP address (similar to how CodeMeter worked in older versions).
Since the server is always running, the clients and server ping each other to track active licenses. If a client computer dies from a power outage, the license is released automatically — the server sees that the client is no longer running.
