A New Projects Node Arrives
Projects lists the files in your open DAW project and keeps every past project searchable — and the whole app is noticeably quicker this release.
This release adds a new Projects node that highlights files already in the opened DAW session and keeps every past one searchable, a deep rebuild under the hood makes everything quicker, and a handful of long-asked-for touches — surround in TWEAKER, per-channel track titles, a wider Connect pipe — round it out. Here is everything new.
The Projects node.
See which files are in the project open in your DAW — and keep a searchable library of every past project, so you can find sounds you’ve used before without even opening the DAW.
- Works with
- Pro Tools, REAPER, Nuendo/Cubase, Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve (Studio).
- Current tab
- Every file in the open project, bucketed In Database / In Project Folder / Offline.
- Stored tab
- Search across all your past projects at once: type a filename and see exactly which sessions used it — no DAW required.
- One-key spot
- Send any found file into the project you have open now.
- Collections
- Turn any past project into a Collection in one click.
A major speed jump.
basehead got a major engine upgrade this release, and it shows: faster launch, snappier searches, and smoother scrolling through huge databases, right across the app.
- App-wide
- A general performance lift, not one feature.
- Modernized UI
- The interface framework was updated under the hood too — smoother, more responsive rendering across the app.
- Windows ARM64
- A native ARM64 installer now ships alongside x64.
- macOS 12
- Monterey is now the minimum on Mac.
TWEAKER goes surround.
TWEAKER picks up full surround for sound design at scale.
- Per-slot panners
- Place each layer in the surround field.
- Stage strip
- See and move the whole scene at a glance.
- Round-robin slots
- Load several files per slot for instant variation.

Easy Editing of TRACK Names.
Double-click the [track_title] row and it opens into one editable row per channel — name each mic in a poly or field-recorder file, with a file-level TITLE on top. Names save to [track_title] and the file’s iXML, so your DAW reads them back.
- One row per channel
- Follows the file’s channel count, capped at 16.
- TITLE row
- A file-level name that lives in the file only.
- Keys
- Tab to the next channel, Enter saves, Shift+Enter for a line break.
BH Connect bulks up to 16 channels.
Stream audio out of basehead into your DAW — now at up to 16 channels, double the previous 8.
- Up to 16 channels
- Multichannel stems and surround beds carry across in one stream.
- 2 channels on Lite
- Lite streams stereo; Connect isn’t in the Free edition.
