My name is Jason and I am new to the BaseHead team and will be developing training videos, handling many of your questions/support and attending to the forums on a regular basis. I'm a BaseHead user, producer, field recordist and have a good 20 years experience in this field but still learning the ins and outs of the many ways people use BaseHead. You may have seen me around other forums under the name "jestermgee".

We have a few new videos that run over some of the basics of BaseHead and are now updated inline with the latest v2020 releases with more being added over time. These include how to add your media, importing metadata from text files, drive remapping, marker panel, using the thesaurus feature and how to use the brand new Batch Renamer feature

Details are being updated in The Manual also so you can now find a lot of updated info on the new renamer, new marker panel operations/shortcuts with updates being done more over time. If there are aspects of BaseHead you would like to see more support videos on or you find any issues with documentation or how anything is explained just let me know. Any support related questions use the usual ticket system and I will help you out there too.

Hi Jason, thank you very much for the updated videos and assistance on Basehead 🙂

Should we DM you or leave the feedback in this thread?

The biggest things I'd like tutorials and support on are:

Metadata/Renaming using specific .csv: Using a custom set of category/subcategory IDs for renaming and having it auto populate the other fields from that naming structure. Quick and unified metadata structures are huge and it seems so close to possible! Currently the batch renamer combs through existing metadata to build the list, but it would be even better if we could define it from a .csv (such as the new Universal Category List v6.0 https://www.facebook.com/groups/580953782556978/?hc_ref=ARSzPWZbhYZfO0g_1FXOWqb4cpLVlmfuIR7mGvINUTznFpQjGEvc-jDzZA5QkGvcwMs&ref=nf_target ). That way we are sure it only uses a certain set of metadata, it wouldn't include erroneous poorly written metadata and we don't have to have it previously defined to do so. This could then auto rename the files using that metadata. Some talented people wrote scripts to do this on the Mac and having Basehead help to do this this would be outstanding. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJ66orOhr7A

Using HTTP Streaming with a Synology for accessing a library from anywhere. I saw this, but am not sure how it works with synology and basehead 5.x ultra. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8nL7_StVnE0

@aaronbrown Unless it is something that would be specifically for me to address, keep general info in the forums for others to comment on.
