Sorry for the noob question but I am seriously considering buying Basehead for dialogue post-production. Now an info I would be very interested in having beforehand is metadata fields characters restriction. Is the max character restriction 255 or can some metadata fields go higher than that?

The only restriction I know of is the BEXT [description] is limited to 128 characters. I would never try anything more than 255 in other fields also.
But to be completely honest if you are tagging files with more than 7 words....You picked the wrong seven words ...haha 😉
When I was cutting sound for films I'd skip right past the records with super long descriptions or caps and always click on the records with cleaner and shorter metadata.
