How do I keep markers & regions permanent on my sound files? or is it not possible.
Whenever I make a marker/region on a sound, select another sound and then switch back to the previous sound, the markers disappear.
Do you have the waveform option "Auto-Write Markers" enabled (right click the waveform display or click the small gear top right of waveform window)?
If this is not enabled then you are in "manual marker" mode where if you add/change ant markers you need to click the WRITE button to save the markers to file
Since your first post the option has been moved to under the write buttons (because people kept missing it:) )

I have an issue on 2020.4.42 Ultra.
Markers write correctly on every of my sound files except the ones from a Sound Devices 633.
I tried to manually write them, but they don't stay. I checked write permissions of the folders, everything seems to be OK...
Where the problem comes from ?
