Hi
Trying to search for the word 'Fire' returns me "No records found". Searhing Fire with a specific location in the fourth search box set to path returns expected results. Searching fire on it own again with Deep Character search crashes Basehead. Is my DB corrupt?

Impossible to say if your db may be corrupt without having a look at it. Crash should definitely not happen.
First suggestion would be to try a preference wipe and see if that helps. See this FAQ section on where to find your main basehead preferences and how to default:

Failing this please open a support ticket and zip your database file and debug log together.
